The Pittsburgh International Science and Technology Festival's High School Career Days is a program designed by a teacher advisory council and partnerships with local industry and universities. The intent is to:
- Prepare students for the workforce as scientists, engineers, and technicians, and
- Raise awareness of the importance of understanding the science and technology fundamentals in our society.
High School Career Days emphasizes the stories of our region's science and technology accomplishments, focusing on the spike industries of Pittsburgh (robotics, information technology, biotechnology, environmental management, and advanced materials and processes). Students and teachers select activities such as panel discussions, exhibit booths, and demonstration/lectures through a conference style approach. National and regional talent brings the cutting edge science and engineering topics to life.
Overall, students and teachers become familiar with the science and technology development by our regional companies and universities and related career opportunities.
