Affiliate Awards

Affiliated Sponsor awards (certificates, medallions as determined by sponsors) are awarded at PRSEF because of its affiliation with ISEF. The 2010 affiliated sponsors are listed below with the corresponding criteria for the award.

Organization Award & Criteria
American Meteorological Society 6 Certificates of Outstanding Achievement - Senior Division projects (9,10,11,12) for best atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences.
American Psychological Association 3 certificates recognizing outstanding research in psychology under the category of behavioral and social sciences.
ASM Materials Education Foundation 3 medallions and certificates of recognition for best materials engineering projects. Use of materials-related concepts, demonstration of some aspect of the materials paradigm e.g. structure processing properties performance relationships, clarity of presentation, clear understanding of scientific method, aesthetics (layout, neatness).
Association for Women GeoScientists 3 certificates for GeoScience Excellence projects which exemplify high standards of innovativeness and scientific excellence. Projects that increase the public awareness of the geosciences, illustrate interdisciplinary nature of geosciences, promote sensitivity to the earth as a global system will be considered.
Intel Excellence in Computer Science 1 Certificate - Sr. Division Computer Science Category 1st place. Winner must register online to complete the process. Winner will receive by mail from INTEL a $200 award.
Mu Alpha Theta 3 Certificates - Demonstrating the most challenging, thorough, and creative investigation of a problem involving modern mathematics in the Senior Division. Project does not need to be in the Math category.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration 3 Certificates and 2 medallions - Winners' research will emphasize NOAA's mission to understand and predict changes in Earth's environment and conserve and manage coastal and marine resources to meet our Nation's economic, social and environmental needs.
National Society of Professional Engineers 3 Certificates and lapel pins for the outstanding engineering project in Grades 7-12.
Ricoh Americas Corporation 3 Certificates - This award will go to the project whose principles and technical innovations offer the greatest potential for increasing our ability to grow environmentally friendly and socially responsible businesses.
Society for InVitro Biology 3 Certificates for 11th grade students with an exhibit in the area of plant or animal in vitro biology or tissue culture.
U.S. Army 5 Certificates of Achievement - for Senior Division projects in Engineering, Earth/Space/Environment, Computer Science/Math, LifeSciences, Physical Sciences - 1 in each category
U.S. Metric Association 6 Certificates for projects which involve a significant amount of quantitative measurement and which best uses the SI metric system for measurements
U.S. Navy/U.S. Marine Corps 5 Certificates of Distinguished Achievement and Medallions. Prizes may vary.
Stockholm Junior Water Prize/Water Environment Federation Regional certificates and nomination to enter the State Regional Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition. Projects related to water quality, water resource management, water protection, water treatment or water treatment will be considered.
Yale Science and Engineering Association 3 certificates/medallion to most outstanding 11th grade student project in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry. Student is given "preliminary certificate" and must sign-up online to accept the award.


Affiliated Sponsor Schedule for the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair

Affiliated Sponsor awards (certificates, medallions as determined by sponsors) are awarded at PRSEF because of its affiliation with ISEF.

The competition will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Heinz Field - Club Level. Presentation of the Affiliated Awards will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The following is the itinerary for the day:
